At least 16 people have been killed and 30 injured after Israeli troops stormed a convoy of six ships carrying activists and aid supplies to Gaza. According to reports, the confrontation took place in international waters 80 miles off the Gaza coast when armed forces boarded the vessels overnight and clashed with some of the 600 protesters on board. A Guardian report says top writer Henning Mankell and many journalists were there when the attack happened.

Militants carried out three separate attacks on security forces in Sopore in north Kashmir on Friday, leaving two policemen injured. The first incident took place at 12.30 am when suspected Lashker-e-Tayiba militants hurled three grenades at a police convoy in the outskirts of Sopore. The grenades where followed by heavy firing which was effectively retaliated by the security personnel, they said, adding that no one was injured.
